A new parking area has been developed next to Periton Way Allotment site to provide those plot holders with additional needs with easier access to their allotments.

Cllr Westcott commented:  "Gardening on an allotment offers plot holders a sense of achievement as well as reducing stress and maintaining health and well-being.  We are delighted to be able to help allotment holders with easier access to their plots, to ensure they can continue to be part of the allotment community.”

David Archer, Chairperson of the Minehead Allotment Society said:  “The new parking area has been a tremendous success as some of our elderly allotment holders are now able to bring their partners to the allotment and enjoy the whole day at the site.

The new parking area has also had the added benefit of removing additional vehicles from parking in Periton Way.

People really enjoy their allotments; this site is at full capacity.  In fact there is only one allotment vacancy in the whole of Minehead and Alcombe at present.”

The new parking area was funded through developer contributions for improvements in Periton Way.
