    Council consults on Minehead office

    Friday 29 April 2016

A public consultation is about to be launched on potential changes to West Somerset Council’s customer contact service in Minehead.

The Council will be moving from its current premises in Summerland Road in December 2016 and is looking at various options for future service provision.

The Minehead office provides a local base for general enquiries about Council services and for making payments to the Council.

The Council is looking at more cost effective alternatives for providing services and will be asking residents for their views to help inform any future decisions.

The office could relocate to shared premises, reduce its opening hours or close completely with residents encouraged to use online services, where practicable, contact the Council by phone or call in at the Williton council offices.

The survey will be available online at www.westsomersetsays.com/consult.ti/MhdContactCentre/consultationHome and customers to the Minehead office will be encouraged to fill in the consultation form when they visit.

Initial research shows that a high proportion of visits to the Minehead base are to make payments – these transactions can be completed by direct debit, online or by phone.

Sharing space with another organisation is also being actively explored with partners and could provide a mini “one-stop-shop” for residents.
