Taunton Deane Borough Council and West Somerset Council are working to identify potential sites for development, to maintain an up-to-date database of land availability across the area. Please note, any sites submitted previously for assessment, do not need to be resubmitted unless there is any new or updated information on the site which could alter its potential for development from when it was originally assessed.
The study is vital and will provide more information about potential development sites for future Local Plans – the documents that will shape future growth and development in the area over the next 15-20 years.
Cllr Roger Habgood, who holds the planning and transportation brief at Taunton Deane, said: "This is a chance for local people and landowners to get involved and suggest sites they believe may be suitable for employment or housing development. It is important we keep up to date with what may be available.”
Cllr Keith Turner, West Somerset Council’s Lead Member for planning policy added: "Land is a precious resource. The expert knowledge of people who live and work locally will be crucial in helping to ensure that all potential, sustainable opportunities for development are considered.”
Putting a site forward does not automatically mean that it will be allocated or that its development will be supported by the Councils. However all suggestions will be considered.
Those wishing to submit a site for consideration should complete a site submission form and return with a location map, to the Council Offices or via email to email@example.com, by 30 November 2016.
Site submission forms are available through the Council’s website at www.tauntondeane.gov.uk or www.westsomersetonline.gov.uk or by calling 01823 356528. It should be noted that the Council can only accept forms received from landowners or developers / agents acting on their behalf under direction.
