A number of community projects in the parish of Old Cleeve have benefited from a £1,000 donation from West Somerset Council’s planning obligation funding.

Phil Gannon, a parish councillor for Old Cleeve, said, “Our parish is large and rural comprising the three wards of Washford, Old Cleeve and Roadwater, and we wanted residents of all three to gain from the funding.”

The parish council won funding totalling £1,000 for security improvements at Old Cleeve Community Hall, cricket equipment for the youth section of Roadwater Cricket Club and two solid wood bench seats, one for Washford Recreation Ground and one for Monks Path, Old Cleeve.

Fellow parish councillor Cliance Godwin, said:  “It was good to be able to spread the funding between the wards for the benefit of residents of all ages in all the communities.”

Cllr Dave Westcott, West Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Community, said:  “Old Cleeve Parish Council was attentive to the needs of people and projects throughout their parish, and it has been really rewarding to help them make these improvements for their communities.”
